Composition

Each ml contains Tolfenamic Acid BP 40 mg.

Mode of action

Shifen (Vet) Injection is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug belongs to the fenamate group. It acts as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic drug. Shifen (Vet) Injection is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase pathway, thereby inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. 

Indications

Shifen (Vet) Injection can be used in following situations-
• To relief pain and fever.
• Used specifically for relieving the pain such as rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout etc.
• As a supportive therapeutics in the treatment of inflammatory disease accompanied by pain and high fever, pneumonia, lameness,    
muscular fatigue, mastitis and metritis etc. 

Dosage Administration

Route of Administration: For IV/SC/IM administration only.
Dairy: Pneumonia: 1 ml/20 kg body weight & Acute Mastitis: 1 ml/10 kg body weight by IM at neck region or slow IV, if needed repeat in every 48 hours interval.
Dog & Cat: 1 ml/10 kg body weight by SC/IM injection and it may be repeated once only after 24 hours if required.
Or as directed by the registered Veterinarian.

Side Effects

Common Side effects: The most common side effects are vomiting & diarrhea.
Rare side effects: Not known.

Precautions

Shifen (Vet) Injection should not be used in animals with active GI bleeding or ulceration. NSAIDs should be very carefully monitored in animals with liver or kidney disease.

Contraindications

Do not use Shifen (Vet) Injection in animal shows hypersensitivity to Tolfenamic Acid.

Pregnancy Lactation

Shifen (Vet) Injection may be used during pregnancy & lactation.

Withdrawal Period

Meat- 3 days.
Milk- first milking after treatment should not be used for human consumption.

Drug Interaction

With medicine: Avoid combining with other anti-inflammatory drugs that tends to predispose animals towards GI ulcer, such as corticosteroids and others NSAIDs.
With feed & others: Not known.

Storage

To be dispensed & sold only by the prescription of a registered Veterinarian & should not be used more than the mentioned amount in the prescription. Fulfill the course of antibiotics according to the advice of the registered Veterinarian.
 
Store below 30ºC temperature & dry place, protected from light.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
