Each ml contains Flunixin Meglumine USP eq. to 50 mg Flunixin.
- Mode of action
-
Flunixin is a potent, non-narcotic, non-steroidal agent. It is used as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory & antipyretic drug. Flunixin blocks the production of prostaglandin synthesis from arachidonic acid by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzyme.
- Indications
-
Cattle: For the control of pyrexia associated with bovine respiratory disease, endotoxemia and acute bovine mastitis. Also for the control of inflammation in endotoxemia.
Horse: For the alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Also for the alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic in the horse.
- Dosage Administration

Route of Administration: For IV/IM administration only.
Dairy: Administer 2 ml per 45 kg body weight by IV or IM route once a day for up to 3 days.
Horse: Administer 1 ml per 45 kg body weight by IV or IM route once a day for up to 5 days.
Dog: Administer 0.5 ml per 25 kg body weight by IV or IM route once a day for up to 3 days.
Cat: Administer 0.5 ml per 25 kg body weight by IV or IM route once a day for up to 2 days.
Or as directed by the registered Veterinarian.
- Side Effects

Common Side effects: Gastrointestinal ulceration.
Rare side effects: Kidney damage, allergic reaction.
- Precautions
-
• Use under recommendation of Veterinarian
• Do not use to animals showing hypersensitivity to Flunixin Meglumine.
• Keep the recommended usage and dosage.
• The drug should be given slowly when used intravenously.
• Long-term treatment with NSAIDs might induce gastro-intestinal ulceration
• In horses, rare instances of anaphylactic-like reactions right after IV use & loss of appetite have been reported.
• Tissue irritation at the injection site may occur when it is injected intramuscularly
- Contraindications

Do not use Shiflu (Vet) Injection in animal shows hypersensitivity to Flunixin Meglumine.
- Pregnancy Lactation

Shiflu (Vet) Injection may be used during pregnancy & lactation.
- Withdrawal Period
-
Meat- 4 days.
Milk- 1 day.
- Drug Interaction
-
With medicine: Flunixin meglumine should not be combined with other anti-inflammatory drugs that tends to cause ulcers, such as other NSAIDs & corticosteroids.
With feed & others: Not known.
- Storage
-
To be dispensed & sold only by the prescription of a registered Veterinarian & should not be used more than the mentioned amount in the prescription. Fulfill the course of antibiotics according to the advice of the registered Veterinarian.
Store below 30ºC temperature & dry place, protected from light.
Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
